I read an interesting phrase today that really resonated with me: "You don't have to believe all of your thoughts. You can pick and choose the ones that serve you."
In other words: Thoughts aren't facts!
Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day 🧠😵 That's an average of 2500 – 3,300 thoughts per hour.
Hopefully, lots of these are going to be pretty awesome, and of course some are going to be weird,... but chances are some of your thoughts are bound to be depressing, even if you're a generally happy person.
And you know what? That's ok... because you don't have to believe every thought that floats into your head! Especially if it's negative self-talk. You know what I mean. The "I'll be too slow to join that group" kind of thoughts. The "I'll never be able to get through this without stopping" thoughts.
Let those thoughts drift out of your mind as easily as they drifted in. It's just a thought... it doesn't mean it's true.
Remember that. Choose what you take in to yourself. Your mind, body and soul are too precious to let the bad stuff seep in.
